PTST Testing for Football Players
Prime Time Sports Training has put together a combination of tests for football players. The tests are similar to those used by the National Football League at their NFL combine. The performance tests measure an athlete’s speed, power, and ability to change direction. The tests will help athletes and coaches find the strengths and areas of improvement that are needed for football players.
The standing broad jump
- Measures lower body power
- Correlates with sprinting speed
- Looking for the distance of the jump and not the height
Vertical Jump
- This test also measures lower body power
- In this exercise we are for the maximum height from a static start
Pro Agility (5-10-5)
- Measures athletes ability to change direction (forward)
- Measures the ability to start and stop quickly
4o yard dash
- Measures athletes speed and acceleration
- Looking for explosion from a static start
3 Cone Drill
- Measures athletes ability to change direction in a small area
- Measures athletes ability to accelerate and decelerate quickly
Football Skills
- Each position has a set of position specific skills they will be put through
- These drills are pertinent to their position and will simulate game like situation
