PTST Testing for Baseball Players
Prime Time Sports Training has come up with a battery of tests for young baseball players. This will compliment the baseball coaches on finding talent and help prepare the players for the future. We have come up with some standard tests to find out their strength and areas for improvement as an athlete. We will not only test the players, but also teach them the techniques we use with our collegiate and professional athletes. Some of the tests are common in baseball and measure speed, agility, and power.
The standing broad jump
- Measures lower body power
- Correlates with sprinting speed
- Looking for the distance of the jump and not the height
Vertical Jump
- This test also measures lower body power
- In this exercise we are for the maximum height from a static start
60 foot dash after hitting off a tee
- This measures the athletes speed from home to first
- This measures athletes ability to get out of the box fast after contact
First base to third base
- Measures how well athletes run the bases
- Measures not only linear speed but a change of direction
Pro Agility (5-10-5)
- Measures athletes ability to change direction (forward)
- Measures the ability to start and stop quickly
T-Test
- Measures athletes ability to change direction (forward/backward, lateral)
- Movement in multiple direction
